My buddy Daniel Dick is doing something really cool this week to recognize and honor Owensboro Police Officers, Daviess County Sheriff's Deputies, Kentucky State Police Troopers, EMTs, local firefighters and dispatchers.  Daniel Dick's State Farm Insurance office has teamed up with Ole South Bar-B-Q to host a First Responder Lunch Event this Wednesday, May 20th from 11am to 2pm.

The event will be held in the Ole South Bar-B-Q parking lot just off Hwy 54 here in Owensboro.  Responders are invited to bring a guest and enjoy a barbecue sandwich, chips, baked beans, slaw, drink and dessert.

As Daniel's flier says, "It's been stressful lately."  Daniel and his team want to take the time to celebrate the local heroes who have been working tirelessly through the COVID-19 pandemic (and always, really) to keep the community safe.

State Farm challenged local representatives to create an event honoring people in our community in light of Covid-19.  Daniel says he "instantly thought of first responders who work in harsh or unsafe conditions" even when we're not in the middle of a pandemic.  "This virus just adds to that risk and unknown."

Daniel's brother is a Kentucky State Police Detective and many of his friends and clients are first responders as well.  Daniel reached out to Greg Floyd at Ole South and Greg was more than happy to help.  According to Daniel,  Greg said, "That’s great! Let’s do it right with not only a sandwich and chips but beans, slaw, desserts & drinks"

So, this Wednesday, they're doing it right!
