Daniel's Vineyard to Host Annual Grape Stomp

Daniel's Vineyard vineyard is a wonderful family destination with a multitude of things to enjoy while visiting. Located in McCordsville, Indiana it is just a short venture away from the tri-state. The big kids can enjoy wines, beers, and pizza while the little kids play games such as chess, and cornhole, or let loose some energy running around and exploring the hillside. The winery has weekly entertainment opportunities in the form of concerts, line dancing, and karaoke nights. There are still many upcoming family concerts at the vineyard including the Halloween Family Party Concert on October 12th.

Stomp Those Grapes, Lucy!

The annual grape stomp is back at Daniel's Vineyard for the 2022 season. Bring the whole family out for a stomping good time and recreate a well-known episode from the I Love Lucy Show! This event, while being held at a vineyard is family-friendly and the tickets are free. It is highly recommended to RSVP as stomping space is limited.

Daniel's Vineyard has hosted up to 800 stompers in past years and is ready to welcome everyone back this year to enjoy more stomping. The 5th annual stomp is being held on September 18th from 12 pm- 4 pm. You can claim your free ticket on their website and explore more upcoming events at Daniel's Vineyard here: danielsvineyard.com/eventtickets.

What is Grape Stomping?

Grape stomping is the ancient method of grape crushing, a means to start fermentation. One of the earliest grape stomps recorded took place in the third century with the Romans. While in most cases, wineries opt for a more modern 'wine press' rather than this traditional method, a lot of winemakers say that the old ways are still the best. There are lots of bare feet involved in the madness so I'm sure questions about sanitization have come to mind. Due to the acidity, sugar content, and alcohol it ensures a balance conducive to safe consumption.
