Kentucky governor Andy Beshear announced Friday afternoon that Kentucky has its first case of COVID-19 (coronavirus).

According to, Governor Beshear announced that the case is in Lexington and that the patient in question is currently in isolation.

And while other states, like Indiana, have declared public health emergencies, Beshear declared a state of emergency in the Bluegrass State in the event that federal funds are required for assistance.

He assured everyone that the threat is still low but he wants Kentucky to be prepared.

Nine other Kentuckians have been tested for COVID-19, but those tests came back negative.

No further information about the individual who tested positive for the coronavirus has been made available.
