Are Your Dancin’ Shoes Ready For Groovin’ on the Green 2026?
Mine sure are! I cannot WAIT til September 5th when the Owensboro Convention Center Lawn is transformed into one big beautiful block party with the best vibes you'll find in the tri-state area.
I hear folks all the time say they wish we had more variety of genres represented with live music events in town. Well, here it is, y'all! Groovin' on the Green is a free concert celebrating blues, funk, jazz, and R&B, but most importantly the organizers are hoping this event will bring the community together for a good ole time!
Gerry Smoot coming through with the smooth jazz, Mel B sings sweet southern soul & blues, and I know you remember Jon B! If you didn't have one of his songs on a mixtape, you slow danced to one at a school dance with your crush. Nothin' better than some 90s R&B.
My friend Rafe Buckner told me that The Northwest Neighborhood Alliance created Groovin' on the Green to add a different flavor to the live music scene here in Owensboro and do something special for the community. When this event first began, it was held at Moneta Sleet Jr. Park, but growing crowds meant the need for a bigger space.
Now each year, the Convention Center front lawn turns into a dance floor with food vendors, arts & crafts booths, and other activities planned for a FREE family-friendly night. New for 2026? A Cruise-in car show!
So, grab your lawn chairs, tell your friends, and get your boogie shoes ready for Groovin' on the Green! You can follow the Facebook page for updates. See you there!
