Monday, our attention turned sharply toward Paris as we watched one of the world's oldest cathedrals and most popular attractions burn.

So humbling a sight was it that I had completely forgotten about "another" Notre Dame that isn't that far away.

And I'm not talking about the university in South Bend, Indiana.

No, this one's much closer than that.

And while it's known as "Little Notre Dame" in certain circles, St. Mary's Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption in Covington isn't an exact replica. Although, Southern Thing does remind us that it was inspired by Paris' iconic cathedral.

The Cathedral Basilica's website says that construction began in 1894 and ended in 1915. The website indicates it has never been completed.

But, based on what I've seen, it is no less magnificent and has automatically become something I'd like to see on a future road trip.
