A classic gesture in any old Hollywood western has the bartender in the old town's saloon sliding a drink all the way down the bar to the customer who ordered it.

Of course, one little knot in the wooden surface and that drink is toast. These days, I'd say HALF the bars I encounter (and that's not many, to be honest) are wooden and very well-manicured; beer (at a bar) and cocktails are far too expensive to risk spills.

But there's one bar in Shelbyville TN where that's not an issue. No, the bartender here would need a very good arm and a very good aim to accomplish the aforementioned task. That's because the bar in question is the LONGEST BAR IN THE WORLD. If you want to belly up to this one, you have plenty of options. Welcome to Humble Baron, where "everyone has a seat."

That's former Humble Baron bar manager and current beverage director Akinde Olagundoye doing what he does best. In fact, he's become a local legend and also serves as vice president of the United States Bartenders' Guild of Nashville. By all accounts, he's never met a stranger. He also likely doesn't do that "slide thing" I mentioned earlier. I'm certain he makes sure his customers' beverages arrive unscathed.

Last year, WKRN-Nashville's Silvia Castaneda spoke with Humble Baron's founder about his world-record-setting establishment:

Shelbyville is about an hour south of Nashville, so if you get to a point where Music City becomes "a lot," take a quick drive and unwind. And bring the binoculars.
