Do you think you can eat a bowl of pasta faster than anyone else on the planet? There's a record for that. Do you think your collection of Squishmallows is larger than anyone else's? There's a record for that. How many matches can you hold in your nose? Guess what? There's a record for that, too.

World record categories come in all shapes and sizes, and it seems there are so many that there are TWO platforms that document them--the Guinness Book of World Records and the World Record Academy.

The latter breaks it down state by state, so you can zero in on your home turf and learn who or what accomplished some feat bigger, better, longer, faster, or (fill in the blank) than anyone else. I've had a blast scrolling through the list, and in so doing, I found what I consider to be an unusual occurrence. A town with a population of just over 18,000 can claim TWO world records, and I can't think of a better place than Dolly Parton's hometown to show up twice on a prestigious list like this. What exactly is in the water in Sevierville?

The World's Largest Treehouse Resort

See? There's a category for everything when it comes to superlatives. And how cool is THIS one? I feel like it hardly matters that the designation indicates there are OTHER treehouse resorts. The Sanctuary Treehouse Resort is the largest, and it is simply beautiful. A relatively new establishment, it opened in 2022.

Who's ready to go right now, right?

The World's Largest Gas Station

It sounds funny to simply call it "the world's largest gas station" when it's the phenomenon known as Buc-ee's. But of all the locations of this crazy popular roadside travel center, the Sevierville store takes the cake...and the barbecue brisket and the Beaver Nuggets and the specialty sodas and the...well, you get the idea.

And the CHIPS. I forgot about the chips.

There is an insane number of things to do in Sevierville and Pigeon Forge, but I have no doubt that travelers often make time for a stop at Buc-ee's--especially if it's the largest one in the world.

They probably grab their grub and back to their treehouse digs. Sounds like a plan to me.
