In 2005, Nashville music industry executive,  Rod Harris raised $150,000 to have a bronze statue of the late Minnie Pearl cast and he originally intended it be placed in the town square of Pearl's hometown of Centerville, TN.  However, after some disagreements with the city government over where the statue would go, Harris decided to take Minnie on the road to various locations in and around Centerville.  And now, the Wrather Museum on the campus of Murray State University will host the statue, as Murray is about 100 miles from Pearl's hometown.  The statue had recently been posted at the Grinder's Switch (the fictional name Pearl gave Centerville) Winery in 2009.  According to Harris, it has not yet been determined how long the statue will remain at Murray State.  Now that's a road trip for you!
