It's a four-way stop. I was the last one to arrive. The other three cars aren't moving. They seem to be waiting for me. But I don't have the right of way! So here we sit. Somebody do something!

Okay, yes, there are greater problems in the world. But more and more, I have encountered the annoying tendency by some to sit still at an intersection even if they got there first. I get it; the other person doesn't want to move fearing the other person doesn't understand right-of-way regulations. Trying to avoid accidents is always wise while driving. Learned that one early on. But I also learned who gets the right to go first should we all show up at the same time. I don't know why those particular rules stand out to me from my driver's test oh so many years ago. But they do. The vehicle to your right always gets the right of way. I guess that's why it's so easy to learn. But we all forget something we learned when we were 16 I suppose. So from now on, when we all get to four-way stops and we don't know whom to yield to and it looks like we're all just going to sit there until somebody, you know, DOES something, then let's just all get out of our cars and meet in the middle. I'll bring the card table, somebody else bring the deck, and we'll rent movies and make a day (or night) of it. Might as well do SOMETHING.
