My family LOVES the Western Kentucky Botanical Garden.  When my son, Rollins, was younger, I was so thankful to be home with him every day.  Some days were rough though, not gonna lie, if he was especially rambunctious.  So, I was always looking for fun things to do to get us out of the house and run off that energy.

Every spring we would go walk through the flowers and watch the Koi fish pond at the garden.  They also host Little Sprouts with the Daviess County Public Library for toddler aged kiddos to enjoy stories and crafts.  My little wiggle worm learned how play and meet new friends in their adorable playhouse. We had lots of tea parties there!

We made some great memories the night they hosted Theatre Workshop of Owensboro's Cabaret Night.  The theatre itself was closed due to COVID capacity restrictions, so the folks at the garden came through in a big way. It was STUNNING. They had string lights draped from the gazebo, which was the stage, with chairs seated all around on a crisp October evening.

Another special thing about the Western Kentucky Botanical Garden is that they allow folks to come and take family pictures, senior photos, prom pictures, etc.  They love when folks tag them on social media with their special memories. Here is one of my favorite family pictures taken in the perfectly manicured English Gardens area.

You can also enjoy their incredible Peony walk which I hear is starting to put on a show! The Irises are in full bloom around the impressive (we're talking GIGANTIC) Marjorie Hager Basket, and you do not want to miss them in their prime this weekend.

Plan your visit to the Western Kentucky Botanical Garden at 2731 West Second Street this Saturday or any first Saturday of the month through October to take advantage of the free admission. Take a picnic, a book, a board game and enjoy the beautiful day.  Trust me! You will have a lovely time!
