It Takes a Village No-Kill Rescue has issued a call for donations as they strive to assist both humans and their companions residing in Owensboro's homeless camp.

It Takes a Village Special Request

At the top of the list is a request for any tents that are no longer in use but are not unusable. If you have one or more lying around that you'd like to get rid of, you can contact the shelter by messaging them on Facebook, by calling 270-685-8275, or by visiting their Highway 81 location.

You may also drop off your donation at the Evansville location, at 1417 Stockwell Road.

And there's a third location. It's in Spencer County at 824 E. County Road.

What Should We Donate to It Takes a Village?

It Takes a Village is also trying to secure dog houses or outdoor pet igloos you no longer need. Plus, if you have extra bales of straw, the shelters could use those, too. And it's important that it is straw and not hay. Straw doesn't retain moisture and traps air in its stalks, keeping the animal warm and dry.

I couldn't finish this story without reminding you that It Takes a Village is always in need of donations. They've rescued more than 11,000 animals through monetary gifts that are mostly $500 or less. And since that number continues to climb, donations continue to be necessary.

If you'd like to make a monetary donation, It Takes a Village accepts Cash App, PayPal, and Venmo. And if you'd like to donate any of the specific items requested above, contact of visit the shelter, and thank you.
