This is the Best ‘Cheap’ Steakhouse in Indiana

This is said to be the best "cheap" steakhouse in all of Indiana. Have you ever been there?

It's no surprise that going out to eat in Indiana can get pretty expensive, especially if you are feeding the whole family. That bill can get pretty pricey, no matter where you go. That's especially true with steakhouses. While I love a good steakhouse, being able to afford to take the whole family out for steak can be challenging. That being said, sometimes it's nice to treat yourself to a nice dinner where you don't have to take the time to cook and dirty up any dishes. Personally, I would never turn down a good steak.  According to a survey in this Fox News story, I'm not alone. The survey says that steak is America's favorite meal, and steak is also what nearly 66 percent of Americans say they would have as their LAST meal too.

We have no shortage of amazing steakhouses in Indiana. Many people like to hit up the big chain steakhouses when they go out to eat, but again, it can cost you a little more than you're comfortable spending. There is a brand new list from Cheapism that looks for the best steak places that won't cost you an arm and a leg. They even broke it down state by state.

One might assume that if a steakhouse is chosen from Indiana, it has to be in Indianapolis. However, that's not the case with this list from Cheapism. In fact, the best cheap steakhouse, according to that publication, is a bit of a drive from Indy.

Cheapism says that the honor of the best "cheap" steakhouse in Indiana goes to Town Club in Highland. That's up near Lake Michigan, for those who aren't aware. This restaurant has been around for 79 years and offers a full lunch and dinner menu, including a children's menu.

Here's what Cheapism had to say about Town Club:

Established in 1947 and still going strong, Town Club is a family-owned restaurant and bar with steaks that come with a salad plus a relish tray. Thanks to an Indiana Smoked Duck and lots of cuts of beef, the mid-century vibe is still intact. Diners can snag a 10-ounce rib-eye for $29 and a 12-ounce New York strip for $31.

Aside from the steak, it seems that Town Club is known for its fried perch. Granted, some folks might look at the menu and think that it's still pretty expensive, but the price of meat has gone up drastically over the past couple of years. So, finding a steak for less than $20 is nearly impossible. And if you do find one, I'm sure it's tiny and overcooked.
