If you are not a fan of the heat we have been experiencing in Indiana this summer, then this winter forecast is right up your alley!

If you're like me, you loathe winter weather. When you are a kid, it's cool because when it snows a lot (well, a lot for Indiana), you get the day off and enjoy playing in the snow. When you are an adult, you don't get that luxury. You are still expected to get out of that mess and drive to work. Add those frigid cold temperatures to the list of reasons why I am not a fan of winter. Now, I realize that we haven't even gotten into fall, and the temperatures really haven't dropped too much yet. However, if I am being quite honest, this is the first year that I can remember that I am actually ready for winter. Maybe not the ice and snow so much, but just a break from the miserable head that we have been having this summer. I know that I am not alone in feeling that way.

The Farmers’ Almanac 2025-26 winter outlook is here! Remember, the Farmers’ Almanac should not be confused with the Old Farmer’s Almanac. Those are two different almanacs, which is a story for another time. Earlier this year, the Farmers' Almanac released its 2025 Fall Predictions, which said that Indiana can expect a "fair, chilly start, wet, white finish." So if we are to end fall wet and white, how will this winter look?

Farmers' Almanac 2025-26 Winter Prediction for Indiana

For Indiana and the Ohio River Valley, they are calling for a “very cold, snowy” winter, which for them is December to March. The Farmers' Almanac also says that our region is set for a "classic winter wonderland" this year. The only thing I care about is if we will actually have a white Christmas. If there's one time a year when I think that it should snow, it's then. Will it actually happen this year? I suppose time will tell. In the meantime, here's what the Farmers' Almanac predicts for the United States this winter:

I think it's important to keep in mind that this is simply a prediction, and no amount of fancy technology, atmospheric tracking, or whatever they use to create this forecast is 100% accurate. As we know all too well, the weather is wildly unpredictable and can change in an instant. However, if this prediction is correct, it's going to be quite the winter in Indiana.
