HGTV is known for home renovation shows and a source for home decor ideas. HGTV is also known for sharing the latest trends in holiday decorating, cooking, and celebrating. Recently they named the best small towns to celebrate Christmas in each state, and they deemed Bardstown the best town for Christmas in Kentucky.

From Bourbon Capital of the World to Christmas Capital of Kentucky

Bardstown, Kentucky is known for being the Bourbon Capital of the World, but now Bardstown can also claim the title of "Christmas Capital of Kentucky." HGTV recently named Bardstown as the best place to celebrate the Christmas season in the Bluegrass State. Here's what HGTV says about Bardstown:

Widely known as the "Bourbon Capital of the World," Bardstown's Christmas spirit is second to none in the Bluegrass State. In December, the town becomes "The North Pole of Kentucky," while adding a touch of Southern hospitality to its holiday celebrations during its annual Christmas parade, where beautifully decorated floats make their way through streets decked out in twinkling lights.
Visitors can also enjoy holiday-themed tours, concerts and other festive events. And they can venture into a winter forest wonderland at My Old Kentucky Home State Park.

HGTV also points out specifically the Merry and Bright events at My Old Kentucky Home, which transports you back in time to a Victorian Christmas.

Christmas in Bardstown

After one look at Bardstown's tourism website, I can tell you it is at the top of my list for Christmas getaways! During Christmastime in Bardstown, you can expect classic small-town charm like carollers in the street, stunning Christmas light displays, and Santa Claus making frequent appearances. There are also Victorian-themed Christmas events at My Old Kentucky Home and a live Nativity scene. Not to mention many events throughout the Christmas season for kids and adults to enjoy.
