Local Soccer Coach Leaves Legacy On Evansville Girls Soccer
Longtime Evansville Soccer Coach Retires
Like many other girls, I grew up playing soccer in Evansville. I was lucky enough to play for the Evansville Elite travel girls club and for the Castle Knights. No matter what your sport may be, we all know how much time and effort are dedicated to these activities. I literally did nothing but eat, sleep, and breathe soccer for a while. Few names stick out more than Jeremy Wolfe when it comes to girls' soccer in Evansville. The Hall of Fame coach announced recently that due to his job being excessed, he will also be leaving the Reitz Girls Soccer program after 33 seasons with the school. While details are not completely clear on where Wolfe will be heading, it is understood that the PE teaching position at Reitz has been eliminated, and he has been offered a position at another school. His daughter, Peyton, who also helps with the team, made a heartfelt post on Facebook:
The Legacy Coach Wolfe Leaves Behind
Coach Wolfe has been a fixture on Reitz Girls Soccer for years, and with the news of his retirement, I was instantly taken back to watching my team, the 2003 Castle Girls Soccer team, taking penalty kicks in the Regional decider against Reitz. It was a nail-biter until the end, and on that day, we had the upper hand. The majority of the time, however, that upper hand went to Coach Wolfe. While I never had the chance to play for him directly, he coached at several camps I attended over the years. I loved his coaching style and truly appreciated his expertise as I was growing and learning. Coach Wolfe is a dedicated, intense, and character-building coach. As a frequent opponent, I always found Coach Wolfe intimidating. No need to simply trust me on his legacy, though, as his numbers speak for themself. Seven Sectional Championships, six SIAC titles, and 373 career victories should say enough. Thank you for all you've done, Coach Wolfe!
