Free Community Share days are coming to one Evansville-Vanderburgh Public Library location, and you're invited to attend!

What Is the EVPL Community Share Event

The EVPL recognizes the power of the Evansville community and will be hosting a Free Community Share event. The event will provide a space for sharing recipes, local art, fresh flowers, and fresh produce with others.

They say you should bring items "as though you are sharing with a favorite family member or friend." The best part? There is no cost to participate!

What You Can and Cannot Bring to Share

  • All participants bringing produce must register.
  • Registration is open until the start time of each event.
  • No registration is required for all other attendees.
  • Only share fresh, usable produce and flowers.
  • Think of sharing as gifting to a close friend or family member.
  • Avoid bringing spoiled or overly ripe items.
  • Use this self-check: Would I eat this myself or give it to my child as-is?
  • All produce and flower sharers must stay for the duration of the event.
  • If you must leave early, please take all your items with you.
  • Do not leave any items unattended.
  • Anything not taken by others must be taken home by the person who brought it.
  • Prepared foods may not be shared.

How to Register for the Community Share

Those who attend are asked to only take what they may need to ensure that others also have access to the resources available. Those who bring produce and fail to remove it at the end of the event will not be allowed to return for future 2025 events.

While individual maximums will not be imposed (due to differences in household composition and family size) the spirit of respectful sharing with one another should guide all interactions. Any items left at the Community will be discarded by the library the same day or distributed as EVPL deems most appropriate. Sharers who leave items behind despite being asked not to (and signing an agreement to take back what they bring) will be advised that they are not allowed to return to the share for subsequent events in the 2025 season.
