This Old John Cena Clip Has Kentucky Fans Fired Up Again
If you follow wrestling at all, you already know that long-time favorite John Cena recently had his last battle in the ring. He officially hung up the wrist bands and jorts for the next adventure, retirement.
As soon as his theme music started playing, the crowd started cheering. While some fans are feeling a type of way about how it all ended after the match with Gunther, I kinda think it was the perfect way to pass his torch. You just can't help but love his big ole corny self, ya know?
Except. I came across old footage of him being a real butthead. "What the hell is Kentuckiana?" he asked. Then he proceeds to rant about how he is from California, where people know how to talk correctly. "You can't even pronounce the names of your major cities." Mocking "Louisville" by drawing out the syllables of "LOO-UH-vull."
Really driving the nail into the coffin, he says, "Take it from me. Take it from us. We're from California. We know how to talk. It's LEWIS-ville." Repeating it a couple of times, it's almost like he knows how much Kentuckians HATE when people pronounce Louisville that way, and he's just doing it to get a rise out of people. It's giving HEEL!
@wrestlewrldThis John Cena Heel Run going to be very interesting 😭😂♬ original sound - Wrestle WRLD
Someone in the comments said, "How you can tell someone isn't from Kentucky without asking." SO true! Another commenter must be feeling pretty brave, they say, "Wait till I catch Cena in Louisville!" The best was the person who wrote, "…whose speaking? All I'm seeing is somebody holding a microphone."
Really though? No hard feelings, John. Thanks for the memories, laughs, and ridiculous moments in and out of the ring. You're the epitome of a good sport! Now...don't let me hear you badmouth Kentucky again, or else... *shakes fist!*
