Josh Turner Sings at Cracker Barrel in Memory of Murdered Family
Josh Turner, last year's Taste of Country star in a concert presented by WBKR at Ellis Park is such good guy. In mid-April, tragedy struck Brooklyn, Ohio when a man killed his wife and two daughters inside of a local Cracker Barrel. After he committed three murders, police had no choice but to shoot him. To help ease the pain felt by the very small community, Josh Turner stopped by the restaurant parking lot to put on a live performance for a jam-packed parking lot.
“This is not my typical day,” Josh said in a local interview. “I don’t have a band with me, and I’m not here to sell records. God gave me a talent to sing and provide an opportunity to bring a community together.”
Moved by the tragic murders in the tiny town, Turner felt his only option was to make the trek to play a four-song set in Brooklyn. All of the proceeds from his show were donated to local schools.
“All the money Cracker Barrel paid me to come up here, I’m donating to the Strongsville City Schools,” he told the crowd. The man’s two daughters were students in the Strongsville district.
Turner went on to say that on tomorrow he will be donate 100 percent of his merchandise sales to the schools as well. Cracker Barrel is joining in on the generosity by donating their restaurant sales from that day to the school district.
After his Brooklyn performance, the ‘Punching Bag’ hitmaker had to return his focus to his career. This week, he was at CMA Fest in Nashville, where he was surely promoting his next album release. His newest album, ‘Punching Bag,’ will hit stores on Tuesday.
