Next week at the DCPL kids and families alike will get a chance to listen in to "Stories From the Hills", Appalachian Mountain Tales. The children and myself have been having a great time with fun indoor activities hosted by the Daviess County Public Library throughout this Summer and I highly reccommend you stop in and take advantage yourself.

O.K. so yesterday it was "Puppets from Around the World" and boy did we make puppets. The fun started with exceptional story telling and ended with lots of glove puppets covered in yarn hair and googly eyes. The wee ones rocked out their puppets until bedtime and the whole excursion was a total blast!

Next week Wednesday july 20th from 2pm to 3pm and 3pm to 4pm children and parents can enjoy "Appalachian Mountain Tales". The activity is open to everyone and you do  not have to sign up in advance.  Today the Daviess County Public Library will host a "Write Your Life" memoir writing workshop that is avavilable for children ages 6-12. Local author Greta McDonough will share stories and advice on how to write your own personal story. Seating is limited so get a leg up and stop in and visit the public service desk to assure your place in the group. The Library is located at 2020 Frederica St. and you can call for info 684-0211 or even sign up for cool activities online at www.dcplibrary.org.

Everyone with children know that reading throughout the Summer is key to keeping a child in the reading habit and helping ease them back into the cooming school year. When your kids bring home that giant brown grocery bag full of the school year's macaroni pictures and study books there is always that little note attached in big letters "DON'T FORGET TO READ DURING THE SUMMER BREAK" and our local library truly does make it easy with the "One World, Many Sories" program. Help your kids log onto the Library website and they can enter books they have read into a database which tracks their reading and awards books and prizes for books read or read to them. My kiddos love it. head to www.dcplibrary.org!
