Keep Your Personal Information Safe; Free Shred Event in Owensboro
Everyone always talks about "spring cleaning," but "fall cleaning" is definitely a thing too! My book club friends and I were just talking about this because we have all had the urge to purge and organize the past few weeks.
I tend to make stacks of papers and documents with sensitive information until I have the time and energy to sort through it all and deal with disposing of it all. Most of the time, 99% of the documents can just be tossed, but a lot of them have personal details that I would rather not share. Now, I sincerely doubt anyone is going to go through my trash toter outside, but better safe than sorry.
What Documents Should You Shred?
it's still best practice to shred things like:
- bank statements
- credit card statements
- old tax returns
- receipts
- pay stubs
- expired debit or credit cards
- utility bills
- medical bills
- invoices
When & Where is the Free Shredding Event?
If you have any of that lying around and need to get rid of it, Owensboro Municipal Utilities is hosting a free shredding event for the community. October 23rd from 1 PM to 4 PM at the OMU Customer Service Center parking lot. UV&S Incorporated will be on site to destroy up to five bags or boxes of paper documents per person. Participants are encouraged to follow the designated lanes of traffic upon arrival. You don't even have to get out of your vehicle. Workers will unload your documents and take care of shredding them for you.
Feel Confident Your Information Will Remain Secure
Other events like this are always very well attended. The bins fill up rather quickly, so sometimes folks are left out when they reach max capacity. Be sure to get there early to ensure your documents can be safely disposed of. UV&S Incorporated shared on the Facebook Event Page, "All paper will be recycled helping to re-use resources. We are NAID AAA Certified for mobile and offsite destruction services so you can feel confident your information will remain secure."

Happy shredding!
