Kentucky 5th Grader Raises Thousands of Dollars for St. Jude Children’s Hospital With Her Sweet Baking Skills
The only thing sweeter than Miss Raelyn Duncan are the treats she bakes all year long to raise money for St. Jude Children's Hospital. She is a 5th grader at Meadowlands Elementary and has been "baking for a cure" for a few years now. Last year, her efforts earned over $6,000!
She started by making homemade dog treats with healthy ingredients in little bone and paw shapes with K9 Cookies for Cancer. Our Freddie "Frito Feet" Maddox absolutely loves them giving them a 10/10. Totally woofed 'em down!
Adding to her menu to include human-friendly options, Raelyn has perfected her Christmas candy, loaves of yummy bread, cookies, and lemon bars galore. She has hosted lemonade stands on the WBKR front lawn and this year is even trying her hand at King Cakes for Mardi Gras.
Quite a little creative entrepreneur, she is as kind as she is hardworking. The first time I met her, she gave me a beautiful pair of earrings she made for me! I'll always remember that. Most of all, she has inspired me and everyone she meets to do what we can to help others in need.
Over the past year, Raelyn and her mama Karen have spent a lot of time in the kitchen, going to markets, and events. They raised $5,055 for St. Jude Children's Hospital. Isn't that INCREDIBLE?!
Here is her big announcement. You go, girl!
