Explore the Beauty of the Bluegrass on the Kentucky Garden Trail
One of the best things about living in Kentucky is, hands down, the fact that flowers LOVE it here. Every spring and summer, I am reminded just by driving down the road how blessed we are to live in such a beautiful state.
Move Over Bourbon!
I would say the trail that Kentucky is most famous for would be the Bourbon Trail, right? All across the state, you can visit distilleries and take tours of rickhouses to sample the best brown water in the world. Now, there is an official trail for the most beautiful gardens in the Bluegrass.
The Kentucky Garden Trail
Garden & Gun magazine recently published a feature called "Ramble the Gardens of the Bluegrass State" as part of their 2025 Bucket List for readers. They introduced something new and fun for outdoor lovers and flower enthusiasts. The Kentucky Garden Trail is a list of the top 12 botanical gardens to explore across the commonwealth.
The folks behind the new Kentucky Garden Trail sweetened the pot with a treasure hunt of sorts. For each garden you visit along the statewide network, you collect a stamp in a “passport.” You’ll receive a gift after six destinations; hit all twelve and you’ll get an even grander gift.

Giants, Cemeteries, and Sculptures, Oh My!
Not only will you get to experience the blooming beauty of Kentucky's botanical gardens, but you'll get some fun surprises along the way. From the Giants of Bernheim Forest, to the historic Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville, and even right here in Owensboro at the Western Kentucky Botanical Garden. Visit the Kentucky Garden Trail to plan your adventure and snag your official passport!
