Kentucky Kingdom Unveils New Family Land Called ‘Discovery Meadow’

Nine days ago, I was chatting with Eyewitness News Chief Meteorologist Wayne Hart on a gorgeous springlike afternoon. It was 72 degrees and the sun was shining. Typically, when it hits the low 70s in February, we're on high alert for severe weather. But not this time. Nothing severe, just a healthy dose of spring fever.

And it came way too early.

Within 24 hours, the reality of February returned, and today, it's cold and rainy and in the 30s. That means I'm looking ahead to springtime. We've already revealed the opening dates for Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Missouri, and Tennessee theme parks in this space. Now, let's a deeper dive.

Louisville's Kentucky Kingdom is one of the most popular destinations in the Commonwealth, and why not? Everything we need in a dope theme park is right there. And like all the best ones, it frequently adds something new. In 2024, Kentucky Kingdom actually added TIME. Yep. The park elongated its season and added an $8 million Christmas attraction.

New Kentucky Kingdom Family Land -- 'Discovery Meadow'

If you're familiar with the Kentucky Kingdom layout, you know where Thunder Run and Roller Skater are located. The space between those two attractions will become "Discovery Meadow" in 2025, complete with three new rides: Redbird Racer, Scout's Squirrel Race, and Cumberland Express. Here's a preview:
