It's been seven years since Kentucky Kingdom has introduced a brand new roller coaster. It was back in 2019 that the Louisville, Kentucky theme park introduced a new wooden coaster called Kentucky Flyer.

That reveal of that particular family coaster was part of the park's 30th anniversary celebration.

THE FLYING FOX AT KENTUCKY KINGDOM

Well, now there's cause for adventure-seeking and thrill-loving families to celebrate again. Kentucky Kingdom is gearing up for a brand new season, which gets underway on Saturday, May 9th.

The season will feature an all-new attraction- The Flying Fox!

Flying Fox is another family-friendly coaster, but it features a rather unexpected and unique twist. It's suspended under the tracks and promises a 'bird's-eye view' of Louisville.

Take a look!

The ride, which is inspired by the Commonwealth's farmlands and crop-dusting legends, has a minimum height requirement of just 38 inches. It's perfect adults and their children.

WLKY in Louisville recently took viewers and Kentucky Kingdom fans behind the scenes for an update on the ride and the progress of the construction.

Flying Fox is Kentucky's first suspended coaster since T2, which opened in April of 1995.

After a brief rebranding to T3, that coaster officially closed in 2022 and was removed from the park.

Park officials believe the Flying Fox is the perfect reintroduction of that specific ride technology to Kentucky Kingdom. It also follows recent playbooks from other popular parks that have made 'generational' coasters a priority.

One example is the recent addition of Good Gravy! to Holiday World & Splashin' Safari in Santa Claus, Indiana.

Another is Dragonflier!

DRAGONFLIER AT DOLLYWOOD

Kentucky Kingdom's Flying Fox bears a striking resemblance to Dollywood's suspended (and very popular) family coaster.
