This news just about breaks my heart.  According to a new SafeWise Report, Kentucky is one of the LEAST pet-friendly states in the nation.  In fact, Kentucky ranks 45th of 50 states.  Here's a look at the complete map and details about why we in the Commonwealth are lagging behind.

The SafeWise Report was released on Monday and it didn't have kind things to say about the Kentucky's treatment of pets. SafeWise analysts took 2015 data from the Bureau of Labor, The Animal Legal Defense Fund (ALDF), and online pet resources such as BringFido.com, NoKillNetwork.org, and AnimalShelter.org, to create the state rankings.  And here's how the map looks.

According to the data, Kentucky has one of the highest percentages of kill shelters and some of the worst animal cruelty laws in the U.S.A.  According to the full report, Maine is actually the MOST pet-friendly state in the nation.  And, our neighbors across the river are faring much better than we are as well.  Indiana ranks 15th on the list.
