Kentucky Para Athlete Wins Five Medals in PyeongChang
The 2018 Winter Paralympics ended on Sunday night in PyeongChang. Team USA's flag bearer was Oksana Masters from Louisville. She had a very good games.
Masters won gold in both the women's sitting class middle distance cross-country race and in the cross-country sprint. Oh, she also won silver in the individual biathlon and in the biathlon sprint. She also added a bronze in long distance cross-country. Masters also participates in the summer paralympics. In both games, she's won a total of 13 medals.
Originally from the Ukraine, Masters had both legs amputated as a result of birth defects from the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. She was adopted by Gay Masters when she was 7.
