‘Kentucky’s Most Famous Pizzeria’ Was Featured in This Popular TV Show
My husband is a huge fan of the FX show 'Justified.' I am a huge fan of delicious pizza. In a small Kentucky town, both of these things come together.
Throughout the hit TV series, U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens continues his quest for justice. Well, his own special "spicy" brand of justice, anyhow. The show is set in Appalachia mainly Eastern Kentucky and specifically Harlan County. If you've never watched it before, here is the trailer.
You can find the whole series streaming on Hulu. In the sixth season, the third episode of the season, titled "Nobless Oblige," is directed by Robocop star, Peter Weller. The plot involves a local pizza place, The Pizza Portal, that has a hidden vault in the basement.
The Pizza Portal is the actual name of the shop that serves up all kinds of amazing Italian food in downtown Harlan at 101 N Main St, Harlan, KY 40831. From plates of pasta, calzones, wings, salads, steaks, and more. A favorite in the area, it has been voted "Best Restaurant" in Harlan County over the years. Fans of 'Justified' travel from across the country to share a piece of their favorite show and a slice of wood-fired pizza.

They all have to try "The Raylan" a specialty pie named to commemorate being featured on the show. Here's the description from the menu to make your mouth water, "Tender Philly steak slices, caramelized onions, mushrooms, and green peppers, with Grippo's seasoning over a parmesan base."
They even do their own Burger Week in Harlan and last year, they based their burger on another character from the show, Boyd Crowder. If you've seen the episode featuring the Pizza Portal, you'll get why this is on point!
