I picked up on something my sister enjoys doing after the holidays. I found it's pretty enjoyable to travel around Kentucky and cashing in on massive post-Christmas discounts. Any store with a sign out front might just see my happy grill come January.

And, no, I do not rule out flea and vendor markets. Of course, I NEVER rule out flea and vendor markets, but immediately after the holidays, the field of opportunities to make great discoveries is a large one. Certainly those types of businesses make bank throughout the year, but scouring these kinds of markets right after Santa packs it in for another year could yield pleasing results.

With that in mind, how much arm-twisting do you need to be lured to the enormous Kentucky Flea Market New Year's Spectacular? I don't like my arm twisted, but it won't be necessary just the same. Hey, the admission is free and parking at the Kentucky Exposition Center is half-off. I'm ready now, but, like you, I will have to wait.

Family-owned Stewart Promotions sets up these massive events like concerts, and why not? They draw CROWDS like concerts. Their events in Louisville, here in Owensboro, and in Knoxville and Franklin TN draw hundreds of thousands of shoppers every year. Last year was the 50th anniversary of the New Year's Spectacular.
