It's the million dollar question, is Lady Gaga really going country? Okay, not strictly country, but she's dipping her toe in for sure on her just-released album Joanne. Gaga appeared on Saturday Night Live this weekend to perform two songs she co-wrote with hit country song writer Hillary Lindsey, "A-YO" and the stripped down ballad "Million Reasons". Here's the performance of the latter with the songwriter on guitar.

Gaga is always striving to re-invent herself and Joanne is the as advertised departure from her dance floor anthems of the past. The sound is semi-heavy with electric guitars and her writing is the most down to earth she's ever recorded. Lindsey was recently interviewed by Rolling Stone about her collaboration with the superstar. Here's a quote:

"That that's how all music should be. I don't think we need to box anything in," says Lindsey. "It's music. It doesn't have to be called country, it doesn't have to be called pop. It's just music. And when it's being made specifically from an artist, whether that's a country artist or a pop artist, it's just coming from them. That's what I've always hoped it could be. And I praise Jesus for her, for somebody that can still do that."

Do you agree? Will you buy the new Gaga, figuratively and/or literally?
