Lic’s Deli & Ice Cream Now Serving Breakfast & New ‘Scooffee’ Drinks

Friday afternoon, I had the pleasure of spending time at Lic's Deli & Ice Cream in Owensboro, KY. I'm there quite often, actually, but usually just swing around to the drive-thru window. In my neck of the woods, they are one of my favorite lunch spots or one of our stops when we "need a little something sweet."

In August of this year, Jodi Ashby took ownership of the Evansville-based business. A tri-state staple, Lic's is also celebrating their 75th anniversary this year! We got to party this past weekend, and lots of happy folks took home gift certificates, sweet new merch, ice cream, and more.

Jodi is excited to continue churning out delicious treats we've loved our whole lives, honoring Lic's past while looking for ways to make it even better. Like opening earlier to start serving breakfast! For now, Lic's in Owensboro and Vincennes are "test locations" for hearty croissant sandwiches, egg bites, pastries, and a new yummy coffee drink. It's a "Scooffee!" A scoop of creamy, rich ice cream in a cup of coffee. Kind of like an Italian affogato, but the ice cream melts and acts as the creamer.

Not easy to photograph, but it sure is tasty! I tried one with S'mores ice cream in it, but they have multiple flavors to choose from. They'll pair perfectly with the sweet or savory starts now offered on the breakfast menu, available at 6:30 AM at only the Owensboro and Vincennes locations for now.
