The anticipation has been growing over the last several months for the lighting of the Glover H. Cary "Blue Bridge." The City of Owensboro shared the news today on their Facebook page that the wait is almost over.

The celebration will get underway at 7:00 PM on Friday, November 6th, 2020 with a beautiful light show on the bridge. You'll even have the chance to walk along the newly lit bridge from approximately 7:15 PM to 10:00 PM. How cool is this!

There will also be live music up and down the street to enjoy. On Friday evening, the Owensboro Symphony is performing throughout Smothers Park and there will also be a Jazz Quartet performing at BB&T Plaza at the RiverPark Center, as well as Brass and String ensembles in the park.

Obviously, the bridge will be closed for the event, so plan your travels accordingly.

If you're unable to make it on Friday night, the bridge will also be closed to vehicle traffic on Saturday, November 7th between 7:00 PM and 10:00 PM so that you can walk the bridge.

"Due to COVID-19 restrictions, certain social distancing guidelines must be followed. There will be a limited number of pedestrians allowed on the bridge at one time, and masks will be required while on the bridge. At least six feet distance is encouraged between groups."
