Carmine Pate is just 6 years old with a heart of gold.  So when his school joined the St Jude Children's Research Hospital Math-a-thon last week, Carmine decided he was going to do everything he could to raise as much money as possible for the children of St. Jude.

Carmine came home excited from school at Spottsville Elementary last week and told his mother, Charlie, that it made him sad to think those kids at St. Jude have without hair and be in the hospital all the time and take bad medicine that makes them more sick just to get well.  Carmine announced he was going to raise a whole lot of money for those kids.  Charlie Pate smiled at her small son's big determination but had no idea what he had in mind.

This little boy was - and is - serious.  Charlie told us he's taken the St Jude donation form with him every where they've gone since he got it from school last week.  At a family gathering Saturday night he even told the guests that they couldn't leave until they had donated at least $5 to St Jude!

In fact - in the 4 days since Carmine brought home his math-a-thon form, he's keeping his word about raising 'a whole lot of money'.  Online, he's raised just $25 - but in checks and cash donations, Carmine has raised an additional $95.  So, altogether Carmine has already raised $120 for St Jude Children's Research Hospital - and he's got until the 24th of September to turn the form back in at school!  That's an average of $30 per day!

If you'd like to help Carmine raise even more money for the children of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, you can make a donation online on his Math-a-thon page by clicking on THIS LINK.  We'll let you know on the 24th how much money Carmine raised for the kids!
