As you know, we recently shared the news that Macy's is closing its Owensboro store after 42 years in business locally.

While an exact closing date has yet to be announced, the store has begun the process of liquidating its inventory.  Yesterday evening, the mall posted this . . .

Macy's has occupied its space in Towne Square Mall for two decades.  Its closing (a couple of years after Sears shut down operations) leaves the mall with just one remaining anchor store- J.C. Penney.  It was recently announced that a local investment and development group purchased the mall in hopes of recruiting new retail opportunities for the facility.

Previous tenants in the Macy's location include Lazarus and Bacon's, the first major department store in that spot when the mall opened.
