Masks Now Required in Public in Nashville

If you're planning on heading to Nashville, and you intend to get out of your car once you're there, make sure you take a mask.

Music City now requires them in public places.

The director of Nashville's Metro Public Health Department has issued an order that now requires masks or cloth facial coverings if you plan to be in public. The move comes as a result of recent spikes in COVID-19 cases.

Designated as Public Health Order 8, the six-page directive is broken up into six sections. Language in those sections cover the type of face coverings which are required and their effectiveness; those who are exempt from wearing masks; and what businesses must require with regards to face coverings and what they'll be posting about them and safety measures, in general.

The fourth section of Public Healthy Order 8 states that "violations of this order shall be subject to civil and criminal penalties, including punishment as a class C misdemeanor pursuant to Tenn. Code Ann. 68-2-602."

As of Saturday, June 27th, Nashville had more than 9,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases with a single-day increase of 350.
