Meet Nicholas Brake: WBKR’s New Summer Intern

Hello this is Nick Brake IX! I'm the new summer intern for WBKR, and I'm super excited to join the team for the summer!

I am a sophomore at Western Kentucky University where I study Broadcasting. At school, I work at WKYU-TV, the PBS Station on campus. I'm a producer for the WKU Extra Point sports show, and a reporter for News Channel 12. I'm also a member of the Rick's Rowdies basketball student section club. I aspire to one day be a television producer in sports at a major television outlet.

I'm a BIG movie buff. My favorites would have to be The Shawshank Redemption and Pulp Fiction. I'm a big NFL football fan. I don't have any favorite teams, but I love to hate the Pittsburgh Steelers. I was born in raised right here in Owensboro, Kentucky. I gradated from Owensboro High School in 2018.

I am a huge fan of music. Growing up in Owensboro, I've learned to embrace my roots and love bluegrass. I also enjoy listening to rock, pop, alternative, and of course... country.

Once again, I'm super excited to join the WBKR team for the summer. I hope to learn leadership from Chad and Angel, and experience radio and its impact on a community.
