Miss America Meets Real Controversy In Allegations Of Past Hazing Incidents
Miss America Kira Kazantsev is back on the hot seat for something much more serious than her relatively simple talent and her surprise victory at this year's pageant.
Allegations have surfaced that Kazantsev was kicked out of her sorority at Hofstra University last year for hazing. An unnamed source claims Kazantsev "pledges...called names, berated for their perceived physical flaws and imperfections, and made to perform physical tasks to the point of bruising and exhaustion." Miss America is now defending those claims by telling "Good Morning America last week, "Under the broad definition of hazing, yes, I was involved with some of those activities while I was at Hofstra....At the time, unfortunately, that was just the culture of the university."
You can read Kazantsev's full blog post here. Bottom line, if you are in the public eye, someone will attempt to take you down, and I applaud Miss America for addressing these issues head on.
