This may be a very controversial opinion, but I'm willing to stand up for what I believe in. I like Mr. Pibb more than Dr. Pepper. There! I said it! Yep! I have never cared that he didn't further his education. To be honest, blue-collar men are my kinda fellas anyway.

I don't even care that he had a Prince era and changed his name to Pibb XTRA for a while. I don't drink a lot of soft drinks, but when I do, it's one of my favorites. Food blogger Griffin Parker on Sporked got the first scoop I saw online that Pibb's parent company, Coca-Cola, has decided to show this neglected cherry soda some attention.

He's regained Mr. status, gotten a snazzy brand redesign, and they've even changed up the recipe. That last part makes me nervous. I hope it's not too different! Another change comes in the caffeine content. We'll see an increase there, which is intriguing. Here's how handsome he looks, though!

There will also be a zero-sugar option, which is nice. According to Coca-Cola's website, it is currently only available in Florida, Chicago, Las Vegas, Michigan, and California. In 2026, 12-packs of 12-oz. cans, as well as 20-oz. and 2-liter bottles, will roll out to participating retailers across the country. Fingers crossed it will be in fountain form as well.

I hopped into Mr. Pibb's DMs to see when he will make his appearance in the Owensboro area. I'll report back if he answers. Do you like Mr. Pibb better than Dr. Pepper, like me? You can chime in on our Facebook page poll or send us a message on the AppChat! You'll be surprised how many of us there are!
