Vote Now: Owensboro Chef Competing for National Title
The Famous Bistro has had a reputation of being one of the best restaurants in Owensboro for as long as I can remember. It is a special occasion restaurant for families or friends visiting from out of town that you want to impress. A pretty patio lunch spot for co-workers. Nicknamed "Famous" or "The Bistro," it is in my personal top three list of favorite places to grab brunch. #bloodymarys IYKYK
No Offense to Julia Child
They've been voted Best Restaurant and won platinum awards, but best of all, The Bistro is where you can go and know you will have a top-notch experience. Chef Jared Bradley has been at the helm in the kitchen for over 13 years now, but he's been cooking for much longer than that. As soon as Emeril Lagassi popped up on little Jared's TV screen when he was a kid and made cooking look cool, he was hooked. "No offense to Julia Child," Chef joked this morning when he joined us on the show.

Taste of Home Favorite Chef Competition
As he mentioned, Chef Jared is competing in the nationwide Favorite Chef competition. Taste of Home Magazine hosts this annual contest to spotlight culinary talent. Chefs, home cooks, and even foodies. According to the website, one lucky winner will be featured in Taste of Home Magazine. They will also have the opportunity to cook with celebrity chef Carla Hall on an episode of Chewed Up. The $25,000 in prize money is pretty great, too.

Talented & Hard Working
My friend Ben Skiadas (whose family owns The Famous Bistro) texted me the other day about how special Chef Jared is to not just the restaurant, but the community they've created downtown. "He's so talented and more importantly, he's so hard working. He's a blessing to our family, our business, and all the people who get to taste his mastery."
Foodie Sings Chef Jared's Praises
Ashley Aull is a real deal foodie and one of Chef Jared's/Famous Bistro's biggest fans. She explains why he is more than qualified for this contest.
“Chef Jared Bradley reminds us that cooking is far more than preparing a meal; it is a delicate art. Every dish he creates is crafted with extraordinary intention, care, and respect for the ingredients, the process, and the people gathered around the table."
His "unreasonable hospitality," as she put it, makes a meal with Chef Jared about more than just the food. "When you dine at his table, you are cared for above and beyond in a way that feels personal, thoughtful, and genuine. That is the kind of experience we all hope for when we go out to eat: incredible food, heartfelt service, and the feeling that someone truly wants you to leave happier than when you arrived.”
How to Vote for Favorite Chef
Chef Jared has made it to the Top 5 in the contest! The next milestone is Top 3, which will be announced next week. You can cast one vote a day for free, or you can pay for votes with donations to the James Beard Foundation, which Chef Jared also mentioned in the interview, is a non-profit working to innovate the restaurant industry and overcome challenges.
I'd love to see Owensboro rally around someone who brings so much joy to our city. We can vote for Jared as a thank you for the delicious plates he has made us throughout the years, and hopefully, he can win some money and meet Carla!! Here is the link to click and cast your vote.
