Friday, June 27th is National HIV Testing Day and Matthew 25 AIDS Services is encouraging residents in southern Indiana and western Kentucky to get tested for free. The goal? To know your status!

The last few years, Matthew 25 has teamed up with Walgreens locations in Owensboro, Henderson, and Bowling Green for the testing event. This year, they're adding Evansville, Indiana to the mix. Each location will host free and confidential HIV testing from 10am to 7pm. The primary goal is to increase HIV awareness, reduce stigma, and connect individuals to resources they may need. Step #1 in that process is a simple, quick, no-cost test.

WHERE TO GET FREE HIV TESTS?

Testing will be available at the following Walgreens locations:

• Evansville, IN – 4701 N. First Avenue
• Owensboro, KY – 2318 Frederica Street
• Henderson, KY – 402 Second Street
• Bowling Green, KY – 1145 US 31 W Bypass

Matthew 25 recently unveiled and launched a mobile testing unit. It will be at the Owensboro location for National HIV Testing Day.

That unit houses two examination rooms. Rachel Trout, PR and Fundraising Specialist at Matthew 25, says the unit has been a 'game-changer.'

HOW COMMON IS HIV?

According to the CDC, 1 in 8 people living with HIV in the United States doesn't know they have it. That's why events like National HIV Testing Day are vitally important. It's imperative to Know Your Status.

National HIV Testing Day is a crucial reminder of that and strives to reduce transmission through early detection, care and prevention. For more information about the event or other services available at Matthew 25, visit www.matthew25clinic.org or call (270) 826-2000.
