Newton Parrish Elementary Custodian Eric Lloyd: WBKR’s Hero of the Month
Here at WBKR, we've partnered with Blue Star Restoration to bring you WBKR's Hero of the Month. This month we are honoring Eric Lloyd, from Newton Parrish Elementary School.
Hero of the Month honors someone in the tristate who goes above and beyond for their fellow men and women.
If you have ever had a child go through Newton Parrish Elementary School you most likely know "Mr. Eric". He is the custodian at the school but if you ask anyone else he is much, much more than that.
We recently talked about Mr. Eric on the Morning Show one morning when we asked our listeners to give a shout out for National Custodian Day. Many parents mentioned him and one mom sang his praises because of how he has helped her son. Here's what she had to say;
Eric has been at Newton Parrish for over 10 years and he says it just keeps getting better. Angel here. I have had the pleasure of knowing Eric for most of his time at the school. We met when I worked for the Owensboro Parks & Recreation Department and the Summer Day Camp Program had a location there.
Mr. Eric always made sure to take care of our staff and all the day campers when we were in the building. He became friends with us and genuinely cared about how our day was going.
What I remember most about him is when I went through a divorce my boys went to school at Newton Parrish. It was a really hard time for them. Mr. Eric checked on them everyday. I would show up to eat lunch with them and he would come and check on me too. He has a heart of gold. To this day he keeps up with my family.
If you ask him, he will tell you what he does is just part of the job. The day I visited him to ask him to come to the radio station he blushed and said "I just do what should be done, I don't do it for glory or attention." Spoken like a true HERO.
It is such an honor to be able to present the Hero of the Month Award to him. CONGRATS, Mr. Eric, thank you for being just who you are.
