The pandemic canceled a lot of our favorite holiday events over the past few years.  One of Kentucky's largest and most popular trick-or-treat events is back!

HAVE YOU EVER BEEN TO OWENSBOR'S TRAIL OF TREATS?

Technically this would be the 31st Annual Trail of Treats in Owensboro.  Last year the event was canceled due to the pandemic.  Trail of Treats is a long-running Halloween tradition for families in the Tri-State not just right here in our hometown.  It started years ago in Moreland Park and after several years it outgrew the space and moved to the downtown area near Smothers Park where families can move about freely and enjoy a safe place to trick-or-treat with their children.

TRAIL OF TREATS FYI FOR PARTICIPANTS AND TRICK OR TREATERS

One of the best parts of Trail of Treats is all the local businesses and organizations that give their time to make sure the kids of the community have a safe place to go for families to celebrate Halloween.

Each business is asked to bring 5000 pieces of candy to pass out and they can go as elaborate or simple as they want when decorating their booth for giving candy.

The event will take place on Thursday, October 27, from 5:30-8 p.m.

Due to Trail of Treats, 2nd Street and Veterans Blvd from Daviess Street to Frederica Street will be closed from 2:00 pm until approximately 9:00 pm.

Keep your kids close and have a plan if they get lost.  Tell them what they need to do and have a spot designated to meet if you get separated.

They do not provide bags at Trail of Treats.  Make sure to bring your own.  Pillow cases work great, mom's old purse, or whatever fun bucket you can find.

This event is supposed to allow people to move freely unfortunately lines always form.  Make sure you are courteous when walking about.

Most importantly keep downtown clean and pick up your candy wrappers if you decide to eat your candy before you get home.

Reid's Orchard Adds Their Own Petting Zoo To The Farm

Reid's Orchard is one of our family's favorite places to just go and hang out whether we're picking apples or playing in Reidland. I recently visited and they had some cute new furry faces.
