Here’s Your Exclusive Chance to be an Official Owensboro Burger Week Judge

Owensboro Burger Week is right around the corner and burger lovers in the Tristate have marked their calendars for this year's "super-sized" event. For the first time in its three-year history, Burger Week has expanded from five days to nine. That's more burgers and more days to eat them!

Burger Week 2023 begins on Friday, March 3rd and runs through Saturday, March 11th. While restaurants are still in the process of signing on to compete, Dave Kirk, with Visit Owensboro, projects there could be up to 40 local restaurants competing.

For the last two years, I have proudly served as an official judge for the event.

That's a photo of me and Barb Birgy tearing into the French Toast Burger from Dee's Diner last year. That burger was crowned the 2022 champion, by the way.

It was insanely good.

Honestly, virtually every burger I ate last year was good.

When I wasn't judging, I was hitting up local restaurants for lunch and dinner!

When it was all said and done, between my judging flights and the burgers I sought out and ate on my own, I consumed 26 of the 32 burgers featured in Owensboro Burger Week 2022.

And you know what's crazy??  I actually LOST weight that week. That's when I discovered that Burger Week is basically one giant Atkins Diet. LOL!

I am very sad to report, however, that I won't be able to judge Owensboro Burger Week 2023. I am going to be out of town during the official judging flight this year. But, as bummed as I am, I have some good news to share. I chatted with my friends at Visit Owensboro and asked them if I could "give away" my annual seat on the judges' panel. They loved the idea, so it's happening.

We'll randomly select a winner, who will be announced during the WBKR morning show on Friday, February 17th.  Burger Week judging will take place March 8 at 11 am and March 9 at 11 am and you MUST be present at both judging flights.
