Hillbilly’s BBQ is the Official Winner of Owensboro Burger Week 2026

I cannot wait to hear the final total number of burgers sold during Owensboro Burger Week 2026. There is no way we haven't set a new record. We did have a record number of burgers in the competition this year, with 59!

I say competition, and I know most everyone in town takes this event very seriously, but honestly, we are all winners by the end of it. You have local restaurants full of patrons, local patrons with full bellies, and once the judging is complete, two victors take home some pretty nice hardware.

Because there were so many in the running, for the judging process, the burgers were divided into three groups. Each one is tasted and ranked 1-10 on the quality of the meat, creativity of the idea, presentation, etc. Judges are members of the community chosen by Visit Owensboro who volunteer their time for this important job.

This year, after the scores were tabulated, it was a food truck favorite that rose to the top of the stack. The hottest burger on the grill this year was none other than The Double Tap from Hillbilly's BBQ. They sold out almost every day; they were so popular!

The Dunns came to the studio to share their burger and explain their process for putting it together.

Even more impressive is that they do it all out of a food truck trailer with their family crew. Selling 2,883 burgers AND taking home the hardware their first year participating is pretty dang cool. You can follow them on social media to see where they are each day. In Owensboro, they often set up at the Street Eats & Treats lot on Parrish Ave.

Just gotta get that trophy updated! MAJOR PROPS to all of the other restaurants and food trucks that made Owensboro Burger Week a fantastic time.
