Owensboro Hosts American Legion State Baseball Tournament

Let's play ball! It's been a busy couple of weeks in Owensboro. This past weekend, we hosted the BPA Northern Zone World Series and fielded about 30 teams representing 8u, 11u and 13u divisions. This week, the big boys are coming to town for the American Legion State Baseball Tournament.

The tournament officially gets underway Tuesday, July 25th with first-round games at Shifley Park. Here's the schedule:

Noon Tuesday: Ashland vs. Shelbyville

4pm Tuesday: Paducah vs. Oldham County

8pm Tuesday: Lyon County vs. Owensboro

Official opening ceremonies for the tournament are set for Tuesday night at 7:45. Owensboro Mayor Tom Watson be on hand to throw out the first pitch.

Play will continue through the week with the state championship game time scheduled for 2pm Friday. Of course, the playing schedule is subject to change due to weather.
