The post led to an investigation by the Owensboro Police Department, one that has been officially closed. The OPD's public information officer, Dylan Evans, released the following statement regarding the investigation:
Detectives from the Owensboro Police Department followed up on a Facebook post made on Feb. 3, 2023, and conducted an investigation. The investigation concluded to be unsubstantiated from the claim made in the Facebook post through toxicology reports.
What Is the Green Dot Strategy?
In light of the incident, however, the popular entertainment venue has taken steps to prevent any such occurrences going forward. Green Dot is a nationally recognized strategy focused on preventing power-based personal violence – sexual violence, partner violence, child abuse, harassment, bullying, and stalking. The strategy is based on the belief that each one of us holds power as bystanders to actively prevent violence and shape our community norms.
While Brasher's will become the first Green Dot bar/venue, it's a strategy that actually has been employed and taught at universities for many years.
