It's pretty simple, friends. If you have too much to drink--and too much isn't that much--and you get behind the wheel of a car, you immediately become a danger to yourself and others.

Not cool, to say the least. So, thank God for the Owensboro Police Department and the 2012 drive sober campaign, detailed in this OPD press release:

As part of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s 2012 campaign,
Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over, the Owensboro Police Department will be out in
force between December 13, 2012 and January 1, 2013 to crack down on
Impaired Driving. In addition to patrol units working to keep the roads safe, we
will also employ traffic safety check points throughout the campaign period.

The holiday season is filled with family gatherings, company parties, and other
social events that may include alcohol. We want to remind all drivers to be safe
this year. Here are some tips to accomplish just that:

 - Designate a sober driver

 - Use a taxi or public transportation

 - If you’re the host of the party and observe an impaired person, don’t let
them get behind the wheel, help them make other arrangements so they
   arrive at their destination safely

 - If you observe a drunk driver on the road, call law enforcement
   immediately

Remember this simple message – Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over!
