Popular Western Kentucky Restaurant Honors Sarah Elliott During Burger Week

The 2025 Owensboro Burger Week is fast approaching, and this year, Windy Hollow Biscuit House is doing something special to honor the memory of a dear friend, teacher, and host, Sarah Strode Elliott. This year’s tribute will celebrate Sarah’s incredible legacy, her passion for helping homeless animals, and her deep connection to the community. It’s a perfect way to honor the lasting impact she made!

In life, you come across people who truly impact your world with their passion for life, generosity, and commitment to the community. Sarah was one of those rare individuals. Her dedication to giving back and making connections left a lasting impression on everyone she met. When she passed away last year, she left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, coworkers, and the entire community. Her influence and spirit are still felt deeply, and her memory inspires those who knew her, including her Windy Hollow Biscuit House family.

SARAH ELLIOTT HONORED DURING BURGER WEEK 2025

Sarah was incredibly proud of the burgers Windy Hollow Biscuit House created in 2023 and 2024 and was eager to celebrate Burger Week each year. Sadly, she fell ill before last year’s event and passed not long after. In her texts and voicemails, before she passed away, she wanted to know how many burgers were sold, and how people liked them, and mentioned how excited she was to be a part of it. Sarah was an incredible person with a loving family and a wide circle of friends, and as soon as Burger Week planning started for 2025, her memory came alive. After speaking with her daughter, Windy Hollow Biscuit House created a special burger option and name, which will be revealed next week. It’s a special way of celebrating Sarah and her impact on the community.

WINDY HOLLOW BISCUIT HOUSE DONATES IN SARAH'S NAME

Sarah had a special knack for collecting antiques and loved animals, and this year, Windy Hollow Biscuit House is honoring her legacy. For Owensboro Burger Week, they'll offer special combos: if you purchase a Burger Week Burger along with a Coke (or any drink) or Fries—or both—they’ll donate a portion of the proceeds to a local animal shelter chosen by Sarah’s family. The shelter will be announced next week, but it's exciting to give back in her memory and support a cause close to her heart. It’s a perfect way to keep her spirit alive and continue the work she cared so much about.

She’ll cheer everyone on as hundreds of burgers are enjoyed and purchased during the event. Her spirit and love for Burger Week will continue to shine through, and we know she’ll be right there with us, celebrating every bite!
