Willie Nelson’s Granddaughter Headlines the Let’s Flamingle Concert in Owensboro, KY
It's back! For the first time since 2019, Flamingos for Amber is hosting their popular "Let's Flamingle" concert. And this year's event, which is set for September 17th at the Owensboro Convention Center, is going to be headlined by the granddaughter of a country music legend and pop culture icon.
Flamingos for Amber was created by Teddy and Althe Hatfield in honor of their daughter Amber, who passed away on March 6th, 2017 at the age of 25. Amber suffered from a rare autoimmune disease called GPA, which is short for Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis (formerly called Wegener's). The disease is basically a severe form of vasculitis and can be fatal. It ultimately was for Amber and her parents have been warriors on her behalf and in her memory since.
They created Flamingos for Amber to help families who are in the position of taking care of loved ones who are ill. To date, their nonprofit has paid for over 1,000 meals and over 50,000 miles traveled. The agency takes care of everything from pet boarding to hotel stays and "anything else that can help take the focus off every day living and place the focus on the patient and rehabilitation."
Teddy and Althe joined me on the morning show to chat about the 2022 return of the "Let's Flamingle" concert.
Tickets for the concert are on sale now and that Early Bird special wraps up today. This year's event will feature some exceptional local and national talent.
And here's a sneak preview of the Raelyn Nelson Band. Yes, Raelyn is Willie Nelson's granddaughter and this song will come as no surprise.
