OK, so I know what you're thinking. At least those of you (like me!) who were traumatized by a clown experience when you were little. I can't even blame Stephen King because the first time I ever said "NOPE" to a clown was my third birthday party.

I have no idea why I was so scared, but it is one of my first memories. My sweet mom always went all out for birthdays, and she thought it would be cute to have a clown theme and have actual clowns come to our house to do magic and make balloon animals.

Well, as soon as they walked in the door, I started screaming bloody murder and spent my birthday in the basement while my friend enjoyed the entertainers in face paint and big shoes.

Luckily, I have outgrown the fear through my own exposure therapy. I have a picture of a clown in my office that my best friend so lovingly said looks just like me. I also have a couple of pretty adorable little figurines I found while out thrifting.

Anyway, it's a good thing because clowns love Owensboro. Last year, the Owensboro Convention Center was host to the Universal Clown Summit & Reunion. July 24th through July 26th, they'll return for another weekend of fun and excitement.

Here is what the Convention Center says about the vibe, "The Universal Clown Summit and Reunion will include workshops, competitions, and exhibitors geared toward every level of experience — from full-time performers to those interested in trying out the profession for the first time. This gathering is a chance to learn advanced clowning skills from top-notch instructors from across the country."

Hey! That's awesome! I love that the event is open for first-timers. So if you've ever wanted to try your hand at clowning or entertaining in general, it sounds like the place to be. I've always wanted to learn how to make a balloon animal!
