Spaghetti is my favorite food. There's really no point in me visiting a fancy and expensive Italian restaurant since that is what I will be ordering. I'm sure it would be amazing, but I don't need to break the bank to be a happy spaghetti camper. It's why I always like Jerry's Restaurant. It was inexpensive and it was perfect.

I whip up a mean pot of the stuff in my kitchen, too, if I do say so myself. And, I'll tell you (and not because I'm writing this story), I usually find myself tossing the pasta with something out of a Ragu jar, no cap. So it always makes me hungry when I drive by Mizkan America on Ragu Drive, out by the bypass. If I haven't eaten, the magnificent aromas will steer me to the next spaghetti dispensary.

Ragu Expanding in Owensboro

So I, for one, am very happy to hear about the $156 million expansion happening at the plant. It's an expansion that will add 44 jobs to the Owensboro job market, and that is NEVER a bad thing. You know, like spaghetti.

Mizkan America, producers of Ragu and Bertolli sauces, is adding another 320,000 square feet to its production facility. In fact, consider the ground officially broken.

This will allow the company to begin manufacturing Holland House vinegars and cooking wines, as well as Mizkan Asian sauces and vinegars, and Nakano rice vinegar. The addition will bring the manufacturing space to 1 million square feet.

Cranking out about a million jars of sauce a day, Ragu has been an Owensboro staple for nearly half a century, if you can believe it. And now, with the added sauce and vinegar lines, we'll enjoy all new aromas emanating from Mizkan America.
